Description

Please join us at the June Public Policy Lunch to learn about Sanford’s first Navigation Center.

What is a Navigation Center? We are glad you asked! A Navigation Center is a daytime shelter that exists to help those experiencing homelessness and poverty who would otherwise be exposed, unsheltered and/or in unsafe environments during critical day time hours. These unsheltered environments are counterproductive to the restoration or a healthy life balance for individuals and families. The Navigation Center is a safe, low barrier, trauma-informed facility that is equipped to meet the basic needs of their guests. The Center provides, without barriers, access to medical care, hot meals, showers, laundry, public restrooms, public computers, charging stations and so much more.

Navigation Center Director, Darla Shoults, will give us an overview of the Center, who they are serving and what their objectives are.
